Doting Grandparents

Another visit before the long trip home. Thanks, Suzanne for the beautiful blanket.

First Day

Night turned into day with proud, tired smiles and more visitors. Grampy and Suzanne were here from Virginia.

After the long wait, Gigi finally met Patrick in the wee hours of the morning. Michael called and woke up other family members with the news.

Patrick Snyder Dailey

On 12/30/06, at 00:50, Patrick was delivered by C-section.
8#4 oz, 21-1/2 inches long!

40w6d

7:00 am: We went to the hospital to have a baby. It was time. We went in, filled out paperwork, R got an IV and waited.

8:30 am: Water broken. Nothing happened. Pitocin administered; regular contractions started in earnest. Ouch!

1:30 pm: "I can't take this anymore!!" Epidural at last.

4:00 pm: Gigi joined us for the wait. Can't feel anything. We waited. And waited.

6:00 pm: Fully dilated. Where is Dr. Altman? We waited. And waited.

8:00 pm: Still can't feel to push. Epidural stopped. We waited. And waited.

9:00 pm: Time to push!

12:00 am: Still no progress. The baby seems to have its father's stubborn streak.

12:50 am: It's a boy! Patrick born by C-section.

Christmas Walk

No snow, but a nice day for a walk. Barbara joined us for Christmas dinner before the Smiths had to head for home...

Come Out, Baby!

Christmas Visitors

A carload of Smiths, and Gigi and GrandBob arrived for an unpredictable Christmas celebration. Will Patrick / Ava Grace join us in time?

Checking In

Gigi and GrandBob stopped by on their way to Maine. They'll be back Christmas Eve -- hopefully the baby will be here by then...

Shutting Down

The computer is dark... for the next 3 months! Robin heads back to work April 2.

Kisses

A night in Saratoga with the Daileys, and breakfast with Cyn, Robert, Taylor, and Keenan the next morning.

A Special Present

Aunt Barbara brought tears to our eyes with a bookcase filled with favorite books collected from friends near and far. We enjoyed reading the messages in each, and look forward to sharing our love of reading with the little one.

Welcome, Alex!

Cousin Alex (Alessandro Francesco Fabbri) was born 5 weeks early - a healthy 6 lbs. 2 oz. We hope Patrick/Ava Grace doesn't get any ideas. We need him/her to stay put until the 23rd!

Thanksgiving

Opening of the birds! Three seatings of friends, old and new, gathered for the Turducken. It was a wonderful day, filled with good food, fun people and many things to be Thankful for.

What do you get when you stuff a turkey with a duck and stuff the duck with a chicken? A turducken! Happy Thanksgiving.

Surprise!

We went next door to check out the crib Chuck & Amy were letting us borrow. Robin saw heads in the window, turned to Michael and said, "Let's come back later - they have people over." Didn't realize everyone was there for a baby shower! What a wonderful surprise...

Transformation Begins

Laura (and helpers) arrived to start preparing the baby's room. We moved Robin's office across the hall just in time.

Llama Leia, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and assorted friends roamed the neighborhood, gathering candy and dog treats.
