Lip Synch Practice
Patrick is very excited for the Hamagrael Lip Synch next month, where groups of kids will perform choreographed dance to songs of their choice. When the sign-up form came home, Patrick immediately started making costumes and dance moves to "What Does the Fox Say," but none of his close friends were interested in performing. Luckily his classmate Owen's mom was getting a group together, and today was the first practice. Patrick and classmates Owen, Evan, and Jonah, and kindergarteners Liam and Dylan will be dancing to a Minecraft parody medley.

Gigi's 70th Birthday
Robin and the boys took a quick 24-hour trip to Maine to surprise Gigi for her 70th birthday. We met at Kobe in Biddeford to celebrate 5 birthdays: Patrick (Dec 30), Lindsay (Jan 2), Gigi (Jan 5), and friends Ed & Linda with January birthdays as well.
Remembering our one previous hibachi experience, Patrick was terrified anticipating the fire, but he eventually got over his fears and everyone enjoyed the show.
The Red House was in deep freeze, so we spent the night with the Smiths and enjoyed a lazy morning before heading home.

Happy 2014!!
After a year's hiatus, the Dailey Update has returned! So what are the boys up to now?
They're both loving school this year. Patrick is in first grade at Hamagrael Elementary with Mr. Stanco. His best friends are carry-overs from kindergarten: most recently he listed #1 Abbott, #2 Aiden, #3 Ellie, #4 Theo. (Ellie's father reports that Ellie calls Patrick her boyfriend, but he won't admit to that). He has weekly math homework, a weekly spelling test, a weekend journal, and is expected to read 15 minutes per night. He loves reading chapter books (especially Magic Tree House), but his favorite subjects are social studies and P.E. Patrick joined Cub Scouts this year, and played soccer with Abbott in the fall. He is looking forward to trying either karate or tae kwon do this winter, and wants to play baseball in the spring. In his free time, he still loves Legos, drawing, Minecraft, Phineas & Ferb, and Mario Kart on the Wii.
James is settling in nicely at Bethlehem Preschool with teachers Tara, Sherry, and Elisha. He loves everything about it except for naptime, which continues to be a struggle for the boy who gave up naps years ago. He's there Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00 to 4:00ish -- a long day, but he still doesn't want to leave when we come to pick him up. He says he's friends with everyone in the class, but the names we hear most often are Victor, Brock, and Nicky. He continues to surprise everyone with his reading ability -- he first started picking it up the summer he was 3, and by now is reading some of Patrick's books with very little help. We enjoy bedtime snuggles in "Mama's Bed" when each boy picks a book to read to us. James tried soccer in the fall and had fun with Keating and Coach Dan, but was easily distracted. Once or twice a week he hangs out in the Kid's Corner at the Y with his buddies Ethan, Aiden, and Matty J.
